Recognising Opel’s offensive early on, WIKING dedicated the Opel Senator of the first generation to pay tribute to it. This Senator “A1” was presented with its Monza coupé version at the IAA auto show in September 1977 and entered into series production in February 1978. Following the buzz the company generated with their attempt to attain a luxury class image, trade fair visitors were left in awe by their first encounter with this Opel, as the Rüsselsheimers had finally created a worthy successor to the acclaimed Kapitän and Admiral models. WIKING followed suit in 1980 and launched both the Opel Senator and the coupé version of the Monza. Springing from revitalised moulds, the red Senator cuts the same striking figure as its real-life brother.
