Well aware of what was needed to live up to the good Opel name, the Rüsselsheim car manufacturers focused on creating sporty versions of the Ascona B early on. The model that became widely sold as a family limousine could quickly be given an image-appropriate effect by stripping it of its chrome trim and by furnishing it with the black components preferred by a sporty clientèle. The Ascona B caught favour with an increasing number of motor sport enthusiasts in the second half of the seventies - with the matt black, rally-type bonnet design serving as a clear nod to the target group. From the unveiling of the first model in 1975 until the introduction of its successor, the Ascona B became the Opel model with the strongest production numbers at the time. No wonder that at least 1,512,971 units, if you include the Vauxhall version, rolled off the production line. At WIKING, the Ascona B has all that it takes to become a bona fide modern classic.
