The garish traffic yellow turned out to be a best-seller for Opel in the early seventies. Including on the Commodore B, which at the time was still enhanced with the obligatory vinyl roof on account of its limousine character. Back then, the Commodore B had the reputation of a full-fledged sports limousine for those who enjoyed a comfortable ride in a car with a high-revving engine. WIKING has miniaturised the zippy version of the Opel Rekord D with the usual filigree and true-to-the original level of detail. The Commodore B is identical to the Rekord D. The two are only distinguished by design elements for which the designers in Rüsselsheim dug deep into their bag of tricks: the radiator grille and other visual refinements created a total package that left nothing to be desired for keen fans of six-cylinder cars. Unveiled in the spring of 1972, the sporty Opel proved to be a worthy successor to its forerunner of the sixties and evolved to become a highly cultivated and, above all, comfortable car of its time.
