Redesigned from the ground up, the generation of the T 2 made the leap well beyond the turn of the millennium - thanks to the service of Mercedes-Benz. The bonnet had been extended in length, while the design appeared to be more angular at first glance compared with its predecessor. Meanwhile, the service of the Mercedes-Benz branches and dealerships found the model to be ideal for their purposes - not least because of its expansive loading volume - and, naturally, appreciated the corporate design of the esteemed brand. Until recently, the 507 D was found in the yards of the Mercedes-Benz branches, but also at numerous authorized dealers. They deemed a service car, adopted from the previous owner and given a second life without hesitation, an indispensable addition, and Mercedes-Benz had early on elevated the blue with white typography to the brand image status of their range of service vehicles. Suitable for everyday use, the Mercedes-Benz transporter was consequently selected for handling a large variety of tasks. In 1991/92, the production of the T 2 hailing from Düsseldorf was relocated to the Ludwigsfelde plant.
