Today, the Chevrolet Blazer K5 is esteemed as an icon of the classic US SUV era. It embodies the harmonious combination of pick-up technology with an SUV body. The K5 thus marks the transition from a pure off-road vehicle to a comfortable recreational vehicle and corresponds to the design that is strongly linked to American off-road culture to this day. Owing its great demand as an antique car primarily to its robustness, versatility and clean lines, the K5 forms the historical basis for such later models as the Tahoe and the Yukon. The Chevrolet K5 Blazer has been miniaturised true to the 1:87 scale - a model-making highlight with an abundance of automotive history. In recent years, the traditional model makers have devoted themselves to the evolution of the SUV with consistent regularity. The most recent examples range from the Range Rover of the earlier generation to the Lada Niva. WIKING has succeeded in replicating the American love of chrome and multi-colour on a miniaturised scale. Naturally, this also applies to the “two-tone” design. This is because Chevrolet furnished the Blazer K5 with the features that were expected from premium vehicles in the USA at the time: The flanks were designed in a different colour, mainly with a white look, to achieve a contrasting effect to the base paint. The hardtop roof, which fits perfectly as a matching companion, completes the desired stylistic choice intended by the designers at Chevrolet. To the model makers at WIKING, the colour design in combination with a lot of silver ornamental trim presented a challenge, which they managed to meet with the highest level of detail thanks to the latest printing technology.
