When still operating under the governance of the four Allied Powers, Tempelhof Airport in Berlin was the starting point for the long-distance trips the residents of West-Berlin embarked on in the sixties. WIKING is devoting models to this theme as only airlines operated by the allies at the time were in possession of a take-off and landing permit. Pan Am linked up the city to the European aviation network and provided service on the tarmac. And, the Mercedes-Benz short hoods of the Schultheiss brewery made regular stops to supply the on-board catering service with beverages. The VW T1 with double cabin pulled the baggage carts in the day-to-day operations of the airport, transporting suitcases across the tarmac – the WIKING theme set offers a look back on an era that ceased to be more than half a century ago.
