The post-war period of the fifties marked a phase of departure for the Klein-Wiele forwarding company in Bocholt, Münsterland. Operating with a host of personal commitment and a modest fleet, the company began to offer regional freight transport - often under conditions and with vehicles that were equally sparse. During this time, Klein-Wiele laid the foundation for their future reputation as a reliable partner in materials handling. Along with their growth came new vehicles - sparking the creation of a type-rich fleet. This new fleet included the real-life Hanomag L 28, whose miniature version now rolls into the selection with a contemporary design. For Klein-Wiele, the Hanomag L 28 was the right vehicle at the right time, as the auto maker from Hanover had launched the lorry as a typical “speed van”. Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show in 1950, the bonnet truck stood out with its pleasing looks that were marked by the wide front with integrated headlamps, giving it an undeniable resemblance to the Opel Blitz long hood, presented two years later. Initially engineered for 1.5 ton payloads, subsequent versions were able to handle three tons of payload – the diesel engines initially had 50 HP, and later delivered 65 HP and 70 HP.
