The crawler excavator modelled after the original by Krupp Ardelt epitomises not only WIKING’s history in the sixties but also the grand age of the Economic Miracle. In the wake of 1945, the Ardelt family had to abandon their traditional plants in Eberswalde, Breslau, Rothau and Kragau and flee to the West. Their new homes in Wilhelmshaven and Osnabrück subsequently witnessed the rebirth of the Ardelt corporation, which came to be owned by Friedrich Krupp AG as early as 1953 and henceforth operated under the name Krupp-Ardelt. Made in the approximated H0 scale favoured by WIKING in those years, this construction machine was tremendous fun for model aficionados thanks to its highly functional cable mechanism.
