At the time it was produced, the DKW Junior convertible was not a car for the masses, but a personal dream on four wheels, born from the desire to stand out as an individual in a time of upheaval. Today, the few surviving units are highly sought-after as unique specimens - silent witnesses of an era when even a small two-stroke vehicle managed to fulfil the great dream of driving with the top down. WIKING has created a miniature gem - exuding model-making quality of the highest order. At the end of the fifties, the DKW Junior marked the beginning of a new era and unprecedented mobility. Sporting modern lines and front wheel drive powered by a distinctly spirited two-stroke engine with three cylinders, it was intended to offer young families and up-and-comers a modern car at an affordable price. However, some drivers wished for more than the plain limousine could offer and longed to sense the wind and sun and to experience freedom. Since there was no standard convertible version of the DKW Junior, occasional customised conversions emerged in the early sixties, mostly as products of painstaking manual labour at body shops or as individual customer orders.
