Aqua blue paint paired with a lot of chrome - those were the favoured features of the Globe Ford in the fifties. The Ford Taunus 12M, better known as the “Globe Taunus”, is now considered one of the milestones in German automotive history and was the first completely newly developed Ford model after World War II. When first appearing on the market in 1952, the car was a sensation. Taking the place of the outdated “Humpback Taunus”, it introduced the modern pontoon body with its smooth side walls at Ford Germany. Its nickname stems from the distinctive emblem adorning its front: A small plastic globe sat in a central position above the radiator grille and symbolized the ambition of the Ford Group to cater to the global market. This is how car owners of the fifties liked it!
