Tipping the scales at a total weight of 18 tons, the Claas Carat 180 TD was the product of a long-standing collaboration between Dutch agricultural machinery company Kamps de Wild from Zevenaar and the harvesting experts from Harsewinkel in the nineties. The Dutch manufacturers were well versed in constructing tipper trailers for the gruelling routines in agricultural work, which gained in importance in the 1990s on account of the growing volumes of harvested crops. This increase in demand resulted in farmyards being populated by identical tipper trailers made by both Kaweco and Claas. WIKING friends will remember that the unveiling of the Claas forage trailer 30 years ago introduced one of the first large-scale models to the agricultural range of the traditional model makers.
