In a bid to lend their company-owned vehicles a uniform appearance, Mercedes-Benz created a corporate design for their own branches as early as the nineteen sixties. Hence, the Mercedes-Benz Pullman towing vehicle of the real world served as a regular transport vehicle in the sixties before beginning its second life as a repainted representative of its Mercedes-Benz branch – a new assignment that was made possible by the low mileage the vehicle had covered up to that point. The branches, commonly at their own workshops, would then outfit the chassis with a crane superstructure, affording the agile cab-over tractor unit many more years of valued service as a towing vehicle. With the addition of the Mercedes-Benz towing vehicle, WIKING is complementing their series of specialist vehicles that sported the Mercedes-Benz design typical of the time.
