They were the series colours with which the Kassel truck makers delivered hundreds of vehicles: The two-tone colour scheme the cubic driver’s cab received before the Henschel HS 14/16 shipped was not only chosen by the customers but was also considered distinctly modern – it was the signal for the awakening of the nineteen sixties. WIKING master model maker Alfred Kedzierski truly outdid himself at the time. When Henschel presented the latest generation of lorries at the 1961 IAA, the new line of pioneering cubic driver’s cab was among the highlights. Thought up by French designer Louis Lucien Lepoix, it came to be the striking face of all Henschel vehicles forthwith. WIKING’s miniature version of this flatbed truck is just as well made as the original, which still holds great appeal today thanks to its round headlamps and a front face that seems to be smiling.
