WIKING’s September delivery kicks off brilliantly with two real highlights on the 1:87 scale: It places the focus on the legendary off-road pioneer Toyota Land Cruiser, closing a noticeable gap in the range as a robust all-wheel-drive vehicle in an orange-brown and beige guise, as well as on the imposing Henschel HS 140 box truck, which rolls over the asphalt as a faithful new combination in the tradition-rich colours of Union Transport. But, the long parade celebrating milestones in automotive history does not end there, as WIKING’s latest product portfolio brings foregone eras back to life in a fascinating way. One such milestone is the light blue VW K70, marking Volkswagen’s radical departure from its rear-engine era. It is joined by the exclusive Porsche 911 SC, which makes the hearts of sports car fans beat faster as a “Super Carrera” with its light blue metallic paintwork with clear varnish finish. Adorned in striking green-blue, the BMW 2002 adds sporty flair to the line-up and is accompanied by the two-tone VW T2b bus, which exudes the unmistakable charm of the “Bulli” era. Just as deeply steeped in history are the commercial vehicles: Emblazoned with the traditional “Glück Auf” miners’ greeting, the inky Mercedes-Benz flatbed truck serves as a reminder of the hard work involved in coal logistics. Meanwhile, the rare MAN fire brigade turntable ladder based on the Metz original brings fire protection technology to the showcases, while the slim Henschel tanker truck adorned in the colours of Raab Karcher resurrects the fuel-rich era of Germany’s Economic Miracle. Finally, the legendary parking hall with its curved roof surface and modern concrete-grey sheet metal look forms the perfect setting for all these model-making treasures and builds a bridge to WIKING’s product universe.
