Set "Pullman"

It epitomises the first major front-control offensive launched by Mercedes-Benz – the Pullman driver's cab was destined to conquer the autobahns of post-war Germany. While reigning supreme for many more years, the bonnet trucks were adopted into the product range early on by WIKING founder Friedrich Peltzer, who was quick to recognise the significance of the Pullman tractor unit and added one as an Ackermann furniture box. Now unveiling the theme edition “Pullman comfort for the transport business” as part of their limited edition “Milestones in WIKING’S history”, WIKING is commemorating the development of the Pullman driver's cab with a one-of-kind creation. The traditional model makers did not stop at recreating the standard cab using historical moulds, but went ahead and crafted the long distance cab used for semi-trailer and drawbar trailer operation as well – a prime example of how WIKING's mould construction bridges gaps in 2020! All in an effort to preserve the heritage of automotive lorries.

Trio of tractor units leaves model enthusiasts lusting for more

Now rolling into the product range are three azure Pullman lorries as strictly limited theme editions: The long distance cab on a two-axle and three-axle chassis, respectively, and the local traffic cab as a two-axle tractor unit. The historic Mercedes-Benz fleet trio is made complete by WIKING's introduction of a matching contemporary flatbed semi-trailer. In light of WIKING's earlier release of the Millipede, the product range can now be considered complete thanks to the revitalised moulds of the historical Pullman driver's cabs and the addition of the long distance version with the large cab crafted from new moulds. A description of this seemingly bizarre model pattern was uncovered as recently as a few years ago during a revisit of WIKING’s historical accounts safeguarded in WIKING’s archive. Late, but definitely not too late, this incarnation of moulds has ignited a new spark in model making that has found equal favour with brand aficionados and enthusiasts of true-to-scale models. One thing is certain though: This is not the last time we will hear from Pullman at WIKING!
