Mercedes Benz G-class - The hunter’s golden boy

Immediately following its première, WIKING updated a colour scheme of this model with a pebble grey design and one back door with spare wheel. Even though they had been forced to wait for a long time, all collectors took pleasure in the realisation of the original idea that WIKING head Fritz Peltzer had for a model version – truly a piece of model making history. As luck and coincidence would have it, the WIKING archive brought back to light the complete design templates used at the time and, as it turns out, not only for the long MB G version launched in 1979 but also for the short version. It seems as if he was also engaged in talks with Mercedes-Benz about an industrial order 40 years ago as the widely familiar G model was presented by WIKING as early as 1980.
