Shortly after its real-world sibling was launched in 1980, WIKING founder Fritz Peltzer started envisioning a short wheelbase model of the G-Class for “his” 1:87 scale. Sadly, this idea remained just that for forty years – until today. The “short” all-wheel drive vehicle from Mercedes-Benz is now being unveiled as a modern classic. The December delivery to the retail trade affords collectors a reunion with a host of theme cycles, arousing their collector's passion as only WIKING can. Examples are the MAN Pausbacke, which rolls into the product line-up with a contemporary Transthermos refrigerated semi-trailer, as well as the compact distribution vehicles with the MAN 415 for the Braunegger forwarding company and the Mercedes-Benz NG for the Schmidt forwarding company. Also making their first appearance are the Hanomag-Henschel semi-truck with rear tipper trailer and the Magirus round hood S 7500 with large driver's cab and Shell superstructure – a tanker hailing back to the dawn of the Economic Miracle.
