Each model is a unique specimen: Deliberately planned to display colourfully attractive plastic inclusions, the driver’s cabs and flatbeds - in equal measure this time - tumbled out of the plastic injection moulding machines used by WIKING. As the early Unimog generation was also designed as a farming and forestry support vehicle, its body looks as if time had gnawed at it. The comparison of several of these early Unimog series on the 1:87 scale is particularly appealing, because each specimen shows slight variations. The “Frog Eye” originated from new WIKING moulds – boasting a great many details and serving as proof that WIKING has managed to close the gap in their Unimog chronology. The matching flatbed has been designed separately and been given the same typical iridescent character. In fact, the piercing headlamps peer straight forward, standing out like frog eyes next to the restrained radiator grille. It comes as no surprise then that the Westfalia cab of the first Unimog generation did not have to wait long for the frog-eye nickname to stick.
